The opening line is fictitious!
"Radio Caroline has broadcast to the UK for over 55 years ..." The author then compounds this falsehood with these words: "...Radio Caroline has been around for over half the lifetime of radio." The reason for making this false statement at the beginning of the book reveals the purpose of the book: It is to create the false impression that in 2019 when this book was first self-published, a tiny land-based station located in a corner of England had become the successor-in-interest to Radio Caroline which began broadcasting in 1964; officially terminated broadcasts in 1967, but limped-on unofficially until March 1968. In that month both of its two ship bases were towed away. The mv Caroline was then sent to the scrap yard.
