The story behind the story that resulted in the return of Billy Graham for his now famous (or infamous) first major 'Crusade' in London, took place in 1954. That was the same year that the British Crown created the Independent Television Authority as a 'rival' to the British Broadcasting Corporation. But what helped to make the creation of ITA possible was the re-election of Winston Churchill in 1951, after he had been booted out of office as Prime Minister at the close of World War II, and had come to dislike both John Reith and 'his' BBC. That same year of 1951 saw the re-election of Winston Churchill and the installation of a new Director of UK Naval Intelligence. He was the highly decorated Rear-Admiral Sir Anthony Wass Buzzard, 2nd Baronet. Naval Intelligence was the senior of the UK intelligence services with roots dating back to 1882, from which it had emerged as an intelligence collection and collation organisation. If the UK had military secrets to hide, this was the department that held them - in secrecy, and now Sir Anthony was aware of them. During World War I the Naval Intelligence Department began its spy work in earnest under the identification location of 'Room 40'. In World War II this Department had direct access to the 'Ultra' secrets after decrypted 'Enigma' messages had been sent from Hut 4 at Bletchley Park. So the appointment of Director of Naval Intelligence in 1951 was no small matter, and the person who took up that position in the same year that Winston Churchill once again became Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, was Rear-Admiral Sir Anthony Wass Buzzard. Therefore it will come as somewhat of a mystery as to why his son, who became known as Sir Anthony Farquhar Buzzard, 3rd Baronet, and who had been born on June 28, 1935, should become so involved with the transition years of Herbert W. Armstrong. Those were the years of the Nineteen Fifties when Armstrong began to morph from being a small time American evangelist, into the person who would be groomed to become a self-appointed 'Ambassador for world peace, without portfolio. But it was not just the eponymous son of Sir Anthony whose activities raise a lot of questions, but the 2nd Baronet Sir Anthony Buzzard and Director of Naval Intelligence raises a lot of his own. Sir Anthony Sr., was directly connected to the Church of England religious Establishment which brought Billy Graham back to London for his 1954 Crusade. At the same time, Sir Anthony was becoming heavily involved with Labour MP Denis Healey, and Healey became a founding member of the Bilderbergers, and Sir Anthony joined Healey in becoming a founding member of the Office for Strategic Studies which debated the future use of nuclear weapons in a potential with the USSR. Consider the following illustrative and informative frames which follow a narrative that began during the year after Sir Antony left Naval Intelligence. That would be when Sir Anthony already had the 'inside scoop' on British secrets! Some seem to think, once a spy, always a spy, and perhaps he was. He did not sever his geopolitics links, instead his interests took off in an entirely new direction, but within the realm of a geopolitical strategic think tank. As you consider these implications that are now being brought to your attention by this illustrative storyline, you may begin to wonder what was really going on behind the scenes during the Nineteen Fifties. This story is told from the perspective of Denis Healey .... Remember, it was the Suez disaster of 1956 which sparked an interest in Jocelyn Stevens to become a part of the counter Establishment that centered around Princess Margaret. This was during the time period that Buzzard and Healey were creating their new Institute. In 1964, Peter Sellers made a home movie featuring Princess Margaret in which Sellers identified Stevens and his wife as the 'Duke and Duchess of Caroline'. This movie was introduced by a mock coat of arms featuring a radio ship at its apex.
